Welcome to the Rotary Club of Montrose & District webpage.
Our club has been active in local communities, representing the objectives of Rotary and we are always looking for ways to be involved in local projects.
I am looking forward to the year ahead where we will seek to help others. This years Rotary theme is Rotary: Making a Difference.
We are delighted that we have Ian Riseley as our International President, a Rotarian from Sandringham, a friend and colleague who is described in Rotary Down Under as “The Social Net worker”
Our immediate past District Governor Carol Lawton, a club member at Montrose had as her Conference Theme “Building Connections : Realising Dreams”. That is precisely our goal and practice for our local and international communities.
Over many years we have supported our youth and through various Rotary Programs helped them develop as people and leaders. They have established a Rotaract club and are leaders of current youth development and community projects.
The relationship with our schools has helped with our young people’s development, public speaking and leadership skills. We have worked with local sporting and community service organisations in partnership to Make a Difference.
Several years ago we helped establish the Men’s Shed in Montrose to provide a meeting place and activities where men could meet together for friendship and exercise their many skills. We continue to help the project and have Rotarian’s as members and others who use their skills to develop this community asset.
For 112 years Rotary has provided a means and ability to encourage and foster The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. We will continue to promote the Objective of Rotary – To encourage and foster the ideal of service as the basis of worthy enterprise with high ethical standards in each Rotarian’s life, and advance International understanding, goodwill and peace.
Join us and help Make a Difference in the lives of others.
Norman J Casey (Norm)
Club President 2017-2018.
